Re: Help with recent problem with FTM2006 (also FTM2005 ...

I just came across this message thread and for the record I have the same problem.

I have been using Family Tree Maker 2005 almost daily for 7 years now with very few problems. However for the last 4 or 5 days I have a recurring problem in that when I do a search from the FTM program (by individual person using the Web Search Resources Box) I get the message ?The server is currently unavailable or your system is behind a firewall which is denying Family Tree Maker access to the internet? message."

I tried to upgrade to FTM 2009 in 2009 but was not happy with it and opted to keep using 2005 version.

My computer is a Dell Dimension DXC061 running Windows Vista Home Premium.

For 5 days now I have been struggling to get my firewall to allow the FTM2005 software access to the internet - without success. I have even tried ?system restore? process but all to no avail.

Delighted therefore to read the following message from FTM management posted 26 Mar 2012 at 4:17PM.

Quote ? ?We have identified this problem and we are currently working on a solution which should be implemented later today. We apologize for inconvenience caused.
Duff Wilson, Product Manager, Family Tree Maker? ? Unquote.

Only problem is that it is now Tues 27th March and I still can?t connect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
