onOne of Fresno?s first new office buildings to be built in more than five years is changing the view of northeast Fresno for motorists zooming up Highway 41.
The three-story McCormick, Barstow, Sheppard, Wayte & Carruth LLP building hugs the east side of the highway before the Friant Road exit.
That spot, on El Paseo Avenue and Fresno Street, was undeveloped land owned by Zinkin Development. Last summer, Zinkin announced that it would build a new building there for the growing law firm.
In August, the 68,000-square-foot building was just steel beams. Now, the building has walls, door frames are going in and workers are busy painting the second floor, said Ralph Anaforian, the firm?s facilities director.
Construction is expected to be finished by the end of July, but the employees won?t move in until October, Anaforian said.
The building is about one mile from the law office?s 19-year home at the old Gottschalks headquarters in Fresno?s River Park Place.
Developer DeWayne Zinkin Sr. had also planned to build a second three-story office building at the same time to mirror the law office, but that building has not gotten off the ground.
?It is very much in the plans,? Zinkin said on Thursday. ?We?re hoping that it will be an early 2014 project.?
